Defend Venezuela!
Release Maduro!

3 JANUARY—The U.S. has launched a major military operation against Venezuela, with multiple bombings of key military and civilian sites, which has—according to warmonger-in-chief Donald Trump—led to the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

This is the culmination of a months-long build-up of U.S. forces in the Caribbean for a clear goal: the overthrow of the Venezuelan government and its replacement by a pro-U.S. puppet, in order to open the vast oil resources of the country for pillage and reassert U.S. control of all of Latin America.

Workers and oppressed peoples across the globe must take a clear side: With Venezuela against U.S. imperialist aggression! Release Maduro now!

The Venezuelan people must resist U.S. imperialist aggression by any means necessary. Whatever one’s opinion of the Maduro regime, its overthrow at the hands of the U.S. is an attack against all workers and peasants of Latin America and the whole Global South.

Calls for UN intervention and for upholding “international law” are a useless waste of time. This aggression is only the first step of a broader offensive whose aim is to crush any resistance to American domination in the continent. What is needed is an anti-U.S. front throughout Latin America, including urgent military assistance to Venezuela. The People’s Republic of China has a particular responsibility here and could play a major role in supplying weapons and putting tremendous economic pressure on the U.S.

The international working class, including U.S. workers, can and must join the resistance against U.S. designs. Demonstrate, strike wherever possible against U.S. imperialism and its partners in crime! Any blow to U.S. interests would give much-needed assistance to the Venezuelan resistance.

This latest aggression shows once more that the main agent of chaos and war internationally is American imperialism. As U.S. missiles rain down on Caracas, those who think China and Russia pose the same threat as the U.S. need to wake up. The unity of workers and oppressed peoples can only be built by opposing their main enemy: the U.S. imperialist hegemon. All with Venezuela! Down with U.S. imperialism!
