The Cuban revolution is in grave danger. Following the US attack on Venezuela and kidnapping of its president, Trump wants to force “regime change” in Cuba by ratcheting up the embargo including by slapping tariffs on any country trading oil with Cuba. The situation is desperate. Power blackouts on the island last 12 or more hours a day. Food and medicine are increasingly hard to obtain. Services from public transport to garbage collection have collapsed. Gasoline is all but unavailable, while flights to and from the island have largely stopped due to a lack of aviation fuel.

To withstand the US onslaught, Cuba urgently needs massive material aid. The working class internationally must act now to break the blockade! If the US rulers succeed in starving Cuba into submission, this will strengthen their hand against workers and the oppressed worldwide, including in the US itself. These are the forces that must mobilise internationally, especially through their unions, to provide urgent aid such as food, medicine, solar panels, generators and more. Such international solidarity will strengthen the position of working people everywhere.
To help break the blockade, the Partisan Defence Committee has launched a campaign to raise funds for material aid to Cuba. We encourage workers and socialists to donate generously and fight for their unions and other organisations to do the same. Real solidarity does not mean toothless protest letters full of pious wishes and empty appeals to “international law”. It means taking action to actually help Cuba and its people!
