On October 29, Chicago OPA activists, including family members of victims of cop terror, joined Sonya Massey’s family and other supporters in protest at the trial of killer cop Sean Grayson in Peoria, Illinois. Grayson murdered Sonya for the “crime” of holding a pot of boiling water in her kitchen. While also facing first-degree murder charges, the cop was convicted only of second-degree murder, for which he could just get probation.
Massey’s father, James Wilburn, summed up this whitewash: “There’s a difference in this country when you have my skin color and Grayson’s skin color. We need serious justice, not a miscarriage of justice that happened here in Peoria.” The cop has already filed for a new trial to overturn his conviction. The fight for justice for Sonya must continue. Jail the killer cop!
