Jacob Zumoff, author of The Red Thread—The Passaic Textile Strike and a PRL research associate, spoke on the 100th anniversary of the strike, when some 15,000 wool workers—largely immigrants and women—fought for more than a year under communist leadership for better conditions, higher wages, and a union. Although ultimately defeated, the strike is rich in lessons for struggles by labor and the oppressed today.
