November this year marks the fifth anniversary of nurse Lucy Letby’s final arrest for the alleged murder of babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital, for which she was later jailed. By now, mountains of articles and documentaries have exposed Letby’s trial as a stitch-up, while a panel of medical experts have shown conclusively that the “medical” evidence used to convict her was worthless and that no babies were murdered at the Countess of Chester. It is now clearer than ever that an innocent nurse was railroaded to jail to cover up the failings of an underfunded and understaffed NHS—the real reason why babies died, and continue to die to this day.
Letby’s case is now with the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), which must decide whether she can appeal again. But the CCRC is notorious for dragging its feet and taking years to act. We cannot let an innocent nurse rot in jail while the bureaucracy takes years to make up its mind!
To keep the pressure on the CCRC, to show solidarity with Lucy Letby and to denounce this travesty of justice, the Partisan Defence Committee is calling a demonstration in front of the CCRC office in Birmingham! Join us and spread the word widely!
